Unintentional Virgin Blog Tour Stop

Unintentional Virgin
By: A.J. Bennett

Book Description:
Karma Points is cursed. Cursed with a stupid name and the inability to lose her virginity. She's on a mission to lose her virginity before she turns twenty if it's the last thing she does.

One night, her good friend Eva brings her to an underground club where Karma meets a tattooed bouncer. He’s far from the clean-cut type she normally falls for, which makes her think this finally might be the night she crosses the threshold of womanhood.

Excited, she goes home with the bouncer named Jax and as always, her dreams crash down once again. Jax cannot believe she is willing to give away her virginity to a stranger she met at a club. As the only son with five sisters and a widowed mom, he can't morally go through with it, even though he's never been more tempted in his life.

Unwilling to let her walk away he strikes a deal. Karma has to spend three weeks dating him and then decide if she wants to have sex or walk away.

What can I say about this book?  I freaking LOVED it!  A total 5 stars out of 5 stars.  I wanted completely wanted to loop read this book. (Loop read is where you finish a book and want to reread it right away.)  I loved watching the development of Karma and Jax's relationship and the growth of Karma as a character.  How she starts standing up on her own two feet and builds her confidence with every experience she goes through with Jax.

Food Blog: Buffalo Chicken Dip

Since I haven't done a food blog for awhile, I thought I would post one.  So this is a super yummy dip and I have been craving it.  This is the perfect dip for any occasion or just for a snack.  This is the one recipe that I did not change the recipe. (Shocking, I know!)

~~***Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe***~~
INGREDIENTS: 12 ounces cream cheese, cut into large pieces 1/2 cup Frank’s RedHot sauce, plus more for serving 1/4 teaspoon celery seeds 1 1/2 cups crumbled blue cheese (about 6 ounces) 4 cups small-dice cooked chicken (from about 1 1/2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts or 1 [4- to 5-pound] whole chicken) Carrot sticks, celery sticks, saltine crackers, thick-cut potato chips, or toasted bread, for serving
INSTRUCTIONS: Heat the oven to 400°F and arrange a rack in the middle.
Place the cream cheese, hot sauce, and celery seeds in a medium saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth, about 7 minutes. Add 1/2 cup of the blue cheese and stir until melted and smooth. Add the chicken and stir to combine. Transfer the mixture to a 9-inch pie plate and spread it into an even layer.
Sprinkle the remaining cup of blue cheese over the dip and bake until it’s bubbling around the edges, about 10 to 15 minutes. Serve with extra hot sauce and carrot sticks, celery sticks, saltines, potato chips, or bread for dipping.

Of course there is a picture....I sooooo need to make this again soon. Maybe tomorrow. LOL

The Singing River Blog Tour Stop

The Singing River
NA Contemporary
By R.K. Ryals
Cover Design By Regina Wamba of Mae I Design and Photography

Synopsis:
In Mississippi, there's a legend about a Singing River, a tragic love story that ended with an entire Indian tribe singing a death chant as they marched stoically into the Pascagoula River to die ...

At eighteen, Haven Ambrose isn't just a high school graduate. In her head, she's an aspiring writer, a traveler, a chef, a slayer of injustice, an astronomer, an archaeologist, and the love child of a famous, rich musician. But reality is harsher. Reality is overdue bills, a crumbling trailer, an absent father, an old addiction, and a hot, crushing summer that may end in disappointment.

For twenty year-old River Brayden, life seems good, but appearances can be deceiving. The oldest son of a wealthy family, he has finished his first year at Harvard to return home for the summer only to discover his younger brother headed down an unforgiving road.

They will be drawn together by a song. For during the late summer, they say the Pascagoula death chant can still be heard near the Singing River. Its call is haunting, its chant a testament of love and sacrifice. It calls to some ... beckoning.

I really liked this book.  I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.  It was a quick read and I read it in a few hours.  You follow Haven and River with their struggles with falling for each other with their difference in social status. Can someone from a lower class fall in love and be together with someone from the upper class?  Will their love be enough or will their status be too much?  That is the main theme in all of this book.  It will show you that the only difference is money.  They go through similar struggles and problems.

Excerpt:
I stepped toward her. “You have a way of making people relate to you.”
She snorted. “I doubt that.”
I was in front of her now, my face peering down into hers. “Really, you do. A few hours of knowing you feels like days.”
“Sounds tiresome,” she teased.
“It’s a gift,” I countered.
There were sudden lines in her forehead, a troubled look in her eye. “Some might call it a curse,” she murmured. “By the end of this trip, you’ll want me gone.”
It was my turn to frown, my gaze studying her face. She had green eyes so dark they could be mistaken for brown and lashes so long they almost touched her brows. True, she was more willowy than curvy, but she was beautiful in an understated, elegant kind of way. The faint freckles on the bridge of her nose drove me crazy.
“Why do you think that?” I asked.
There was something stark and open about her eyes when she answered, “Because I am better at being abandoned than I am at keeping people.”

Blog tour stop: Thirty and Half Excuse by Denise Grover Swank

I am super excited to take place in this blog tour.  This has to be my favorite series by Denise Grover Swank and Twenty Eight and Half Wishes was the first book I read by her and got me hooked on her writing.  I am happy to present the third book in this series...Thirty and a Half Excuse.

Book Description
Life in Henryetta, Arkansas is turned upside down with the arrival of a televangelist, but it’s the death of a little old lady on Rose’s street that catches her attention. The Henryetta police deem her death natural causes, but Rose suspects foul play and so does an unlikely supporter–-the president of the Busy Body Club, her eighty-two year old neighbor Mildred.

But Rose is in the middle of opening her nursery with her sister Violet, who’s separated from her husband Mike, as well as stalling her boyfriend Joe’s family, rich socialites who are determined to meet her. Along with her multiple encounters with Fenton County’s new assistant DA, Mason Deveraux III, it’s just another day in the life of Rose Gardner–-chaos.

Who is Denise Grover Swank?

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Denise Grover Swank was born in Kansas City, Missouri and lived in the area until she was nineteen. Then she became a nomadic gypsy, living in five cities, four states and ten houses over the course of ten years before she moved back to her roots. She speaks English and smattering of Spanish and Chinese which she learned through an intensive Nick Jr. immersion period.  Her hobbies include witty Facebook comments (in own her mind) and dancing in her kitchen with her children. (Quite badly if you believe her offspring.)  Hidden talents include the gift of justification and the ability to drink massive amounts of caffeine and still fall asleep within two minutes. Her lack of the sense of smell allows her to perform many unspeakable tasks.  She has six children and hasn’t lost her sanity. Or so she leads you to believe.

I had the awesome chance of asking her a few questions and this is what she had to say....

What inspired you to write your first book?
I’d tried to write a complete novel many times before but never finished. In the fall of 2009, I heard about NaNoWriMo and decided it was now or never. So I semi-plotted out the book and started on the morning of November 1.  On November 30, I had 69,000 words and I completed the book on December 10.
I’m so grateful for NaNoWriMo. It’s a fantastic motivator to fledgling writers. In fact, I’ve started a Facebook page for anyone participating in this year’s NaNoWriMo. I hope it’s encouraging and motivating, and it’s open to anyone if any of your readers would like to join.https://www.facebook.com/groups/211017295734031/
What books/authors have most influenced your life most?
The Little House on the Prairie series when I was a kid. I loved that series and it made me want to write my own stories.
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
No, I don’t think I would. I agonized over several scenes and tweaked several right up to copy editing.  I used a lot of beta readers on Thirty and a Half Excuses, more than my norm. I let about twenty members of my street team beta read.
What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Wow.  It’s all hard, but I think it’s starting.  Staring at the empty page and that blinking cursor is intimidating. I have to come up with enough words to fill a book. I love writing and I’m so proud of the books I’ve written. I liken starting a book to standing on the edge of a swimming pool full of cold water and trying to make myself jump in.
While you were writing, did you ever feel as if you were one of the characters?
No, I can relate to them and some characters share characteristics like me, but I never feel like they are me. That being said, when I write, I’m in my character’s heads. I feel what they are feeling. When they hurt, I hurt.
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book?
Isla Fischer would make an excellent Rose.
What is your favorite positive saying?
I tell my beta readers and critique partners that friends don’t look stupid in print.
What is your favorite book and why?
I can’t say I have one. I love bits and pieces of lots of books.

Excerpt:
The car horn sounded like a trumpet, making me laugh hysterically. Hugh was anything but subtle. Jamming my feet into my Converse shoes, I tie the laces in a hurry and rush for the door.
"Where are you going?"
My mother, one of the shortest people I know, tries to block my way. I gently nudge her aside as I zip up my hoody. "I'm going out," I mumble.
"No you're not. It's Friday night. You have youth group. Your father is expecting to see you there."
"Well he's going to be disappointed...again. How many times do I have to tell you guys I'm not interested? I don't want to sound snarky, but I can't help it. I hate youth group. I hate church. I hate that my minister is my dad who is constantly harping on about it and forcing me to go to stuff that is as boring as hell. It's bad enough they force me to the Sunday morning snore-fest each week. I decided a few months ago, that my parents could stop stealing my Friday nights as well. I used to sneak out after youth group all the time, but it was getting tiring. The last few months of just skipping it have been much easier, although I could do without the arguments.”
"Dale, stop."
I don't bother holding in my sigh as I pause by the front door. My mother's voice, usually so soft and sweet has taken on a hard edge. It's been doing that a lot lately.
"You know the rules."
Do I ever!
"You must attend youth group. How do you think it looks to the parishioners when their own minister's son doesn't even show up?"
"I don't care how it looks." I spin around to face her. "I don't care what any of those people think. I'm not here to impress them. I never asked to be a minister's kid."
"Dale…"
"No! I'm going out."
Her expression crests with sadness before bunching into a tight frown.
I race out the door before she can stop me. Her voice chases me down the path all the way to Hugh's car. I slam the door shut, trying to block out the, "Dale, you get back here right now!"
"Go, man, go!"
Hugh nods and screeches away from the curb, but not fast enough for me to miss the tears welling in my mother's eyes. I shouldn't have looked back.
I hate that. Why does she have to go crying about it and making me feel bad? Maybe if her and Dad would stop lumping so many rules on me, and actually listen to what I had to say, I wouldn't have to cause her so much pain. This had been brewing for years, mostly without me knowing it, but at the end of my freshman year I just snapped. I couldn't play the role anymore. I refused to keep following the rules I thought were stupid. They weren't doing it because they loved me, they were just worried about what the damn church goers thought. It was all about appearances to them. I refused to follow some religion I wasn't even sure I believed in. Hypocrites were the worst kind of sinners, and I wasn't going to be lumped in with them.
No, I had chosen to swing to the complete opposite side of the spectrum. Having spent a lifetime living by the letter of the law, I was now doing my best to live as far from the law as possible.

Enter Lilliana, a 30 something divorcee and dental hygienist. After inheriting a large tract of land and house from a close relative, she has relocated to an opulent area in Connecticut hoping to start her life anew, and leave her clingy ex-husband behind. Stubborn, opinionated, and impatient, she has no interest in selling her land to the money hungry vultures that have started sniffing around. She also has no interest in falling in love or being pursued by a certain attractive yet arrogant alpha male interested in her property.

Tucker, however, has other plans. Realizing that Lilliana is sitting on a real estate goldmine, he sets his sight on trying to obtain it at any cost. Even if it means deceiving her and buying his way into her heart. But Lilliana can't be bought and Tucker gets more than he bargained for when she rebuffs his financial and sexual advances at every turn.

Their chemistry and physical attraction to one another is undeniable and Lilliana has a way of bringing out the best in the usually cold and austere Tucker. Just when things are heating up and Tucker starts to fall for Lilliana, she discovers where his true motivations lie, forcing her to seek sweet revenge the only way she knows how - by giving in to his every fantasy and toying with his emotions.

Exclusive Excerpt....you can only find this one here. ;)
Tucker could hear the gulp of Lilliana’s hard swallow. He had only expected something to eat from his visit, but this little layover was turning out far better than he had anticipated. Good music, a beautiful woman with an ass like an onion cooking for him and doing what he had instructed her to do – how lucky could a man get?
As Lilliana began to peel the fruit just as he had demonstrated, he grabbed her shoulders and sunk his teeth into the soft flesh on the nape of her neck just hard enough to leave a mark without drawing blood. She tasted heavenly, salty and clean. Lilliana let out a high-pitched moan and her hands began quaking.
When she paused, Tucker licked the crook of her ear and said softly, “Continue, Lilly.” He liked the shortened version of her name. It suited her better.
Doing as she was told, Lilliana finished and began on another apple. Pleased with how well his new pet was following his directions, he inched his mouth down her spine and slipped her shorts down to her ankles, exposing her bare ass. It was absolutely fucking flawless - round and firm and nothing less than glorious.
“Tucker,” Lilliana said uneasily as she began to turn around.
Tucker gripped her hips firmly, holding her in place so that she couldn’t resist him or move.
“Hush, Ms. Norris,” he snarled as he bit into her ass cheek. Lilliana squealed and he licked and nibbled her other cheek in response.
Just as he began to ease a finger into her, Lilliana said more ardently, “Tucker, please.”
Tucker slid her shorts back up and spun her around. Her eyebrows were furrowed but her eyes were languorous.
“There’s no need to beg,” he teased as he leaned in to kiss her.
He wanted to taste her lips so badly his cock throbbed with an intensity he hadn’t felt in ages.  Just as his lips touched hers, her hand came up between them and she pushed against his chest firmly, forcing them apart.
“Please, stop,” she uttered breathlessly.
It had been so long since a woman had said no to him, Tucker was mildly dazed. He stepped back and scanned her body. It was obvious by her rapid breathing, her thighs clench together and the fuck-me eyes she was throwing his way that she wanted him, so what was the problem?
As Tucker and Lilliana stood watching each other, the next song on the CD began and Tucker’s eyebrows went up.
“How apropos,” he kidded Lilliana about the title of the song.
“Let’s elope? I don’t think so. I may be horny but I’m not dense.”
“Where’s your sense of romance?” he asked.
“Romance is dead.”
Tucker’s eyebrows knit together and he ran his hands through his hair. “How long do you plan on doing this, Lilly?”
“Doing what?” she asked, gripping the counter behind her for support.
“Pretending like you’re not attracted to me.”
Lilliana sighed and shook her head. “I’ve already admitted that I find you attractive, but that doesn’t mean I have to act foolishly and do something I’ll regret.”
Tucker laughed. “I promise that your experience with me will be enjoyable, not regretful.”

To be honest with you all, I had a hard time getting into this book.  But once I got into it, I couldn't put it down.  It was a huge different from what I normally read but I am happy that I took the chance to read this book.  The big question in this book is, "What would you give up for the person you love?"  Would you give up the place you live, the big career that you work hard for  This got me thinking about my relationship with my SO and all what we have gone through together and separately.  I love a book that makes me think.  I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars and well worth the read.

Hmmm...what can I say about this book.  There is a lot.  First of all, I LOVED it.  I got hooked right away in the first novella.  It is hot and steamy and a little bit on the dark side.  Which I love.  I couldn't get enough of it.  The only crappy thing is the cliffhanger ending.  This means I have to wait until the second collection is out which I am not good at the whole waiting thing.  The thing that I find really interesting is the split personality of London/Desniah.  It is interesting on how the two are separate but still the same person. How they are aware of what each other is doing but are separate "people." They each have their own relationship and their own personality.  I have never read a book that is even remotely like this and it was an awesome discovery. I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars and I so cannot wait until the next collection comes out.

Still undecided about whether or not you want to read the book...well here is an awesome excerpt from the book.
"Kiss me." She trembled.
If she didn't want the contact why had she requested it? I halted. "Are you sure?"
"Yes."
I planted a light peck on her cheek. The way we always did.
"A lover's kiss," she said.
Being referred to as her lover made me hard. I leaned in. "Are you certain?"
"Yes." Her eyes widened, she took hold of my blazer and pulled me closer.
Slowing my movement toward her, I cupped her neck with my fingers, and used my thumb beneath her jaw to angle her head upward. She stared into my eyes, as though attempting to read me. As I lowered my mouth to hers, I wrapped my other arm behind her waist and drew her flush to me.
She gasped.

Who is Leila DeSint?

Leila DeSint was born in a small town on the east coast of Canada. Her nomadic childhood gave her the ability to ebb and flow with the seasons, people and places she lived in. Most often, she could be found in a corner with a pencil and notepad using words to recreate the dark world around her. Many summers of her youth were spent on the shores of her birthplace collecting seashells, but she alway...s retuned them for the next wanderer that happened by.

The pencil and notepad have been traded for a computer, but the words never stop flowing, nor did her interest in conjuring glimpses of the world as she perceived it. The corner is now a desk. And rather than leaving behind seashells for wanderers, she pens dark, gritty erotic literature that examines the complexities of human emotions and sexuality through an ever-changing lens. She delves into the shadowy areas and explores the social-perceptions of taboos.

She threads together the remnants of the world she witnessed in order to shed light on obscure places.
